Courses at Nanjing University

A. Short Programs during winter and summer break (2-10 weeks)

During the winter and summer vocations short period Chinese programs from 2 weeks to 10 weeks are organized for different levels. 20 hours per week. The size of each class is small. Classes on offer are Chinese Speaking, Chinese Reading, Chinese Reading, Newspaper Reading, HSK Introduction, Chinese Culture, Taiji Boxing and Contemporary China. One-day excurses and trips atound China can be organized duting and after studies. 

B. Regular Chinese Program(half a year to 2 years)

Nanjing University offers many different Chinese language courses each semester. Students will be generally divided into 4 levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced and be taught by experienced teachers. Over 20 optional chasses related to Chinese culture are offered, the classes are also small. Classes include Chinese comprehensive, Oral Chinese, Chinese listening and speaking, Chinese Grammar, Ancient Chinese History, Contemporary Chinese History, New Chinese film, Chinese Website News Reading, Chinese Ethnic groups and Religions, Chinese Survey, Taiji Boxing, Chinese Calligraphy etc. 

C. Undergraduate Courses: B.A. in Chinese Language (4 years)

The B.A. program is designed especially for international students. It aims to help international students acquire a systematic knowledge of the Chinese language, basic knowledge of Chinese culture, and practical skills for future research. The B.A. in Chinese Language program has three main components: Chinese Language training, Knowledge of Chinese courses, and Chinese Culture courses. 

D. Postgraduate Courses: M.A. in Chinese International Education (2.5 years)

The Graduate Programme aims to foster future Chinese teachers with practical skills in Chinese language instruction, intercultural communication ability, and comprehensive knowledge of Chinese culture. The first year training is comprised of courses such as Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language, Pedagogy,Psychology, and Foreign Languages. In the second year qualified students are sent abroad for practicum and further training under supervision of the University. Thesis writing and thesis defense will take place in the last half year. 

Overseas TCFL Teachers Training Program

The program aims to help overseas Chinese language instructors acquire up-to-date knowledge of new research on Chinsese language pedagogy, as well as deepen their knowledge of Chinese culture and language. Course offerings include: Teaching Chinese as A Foreign Language, Modem Chinese Serials, Research on Primary School and Middle School Chinese Teaching, Research on HSK test and Course Test, HSK test for Children, Modem Chinese Literature, Reform Trends on Chinese Teaching in Primary and Middle School. The duration and course components of each teacher’s training program can be tailored according to individual demand. 

HSK Tests serials and relevant intensive courses

The Institute for International Students of Nanjing University is a national test center for the Chinese Proficiency Test(HSK) and the TCFL Capability Test. Before each test, intensive prep-courses are offered. 

Application

Period Applications for the Winter Short Program and Spring Semester enrollment are accepted from October-December. Applications for the Summer Short Program and Fall Semester enrollment are accepted from March to May. Please contact us for information about other programs.
