Instructors at the Shaolin Wu Shu Institute

 

The Shaolin Wu Shu Institute is host to a number of internationally renowned masters of traditional Chinese Kung Fu, including:

Jiao Hongmin

Jiao Hongmin (buddhist name, Shi De Hong) is originally from Dengfeng, Henan Province. He is currently the Director of Shaolin Temple Wushu Training Centre International Performance Training Camp, and the Principal of Henan Shaolin Wushu College. From a very young age, he has been trained and practice budism, martial art, and Chinese medicine, etc, by the senior monks at Shaolin temple. He has visited over 20 different countries and areas.  His personal specialty is Qi Gong and Shaolin Traditional Fists, as well as Chinese Medicine.

In 1983 Jiao Hongmin was  awarded first place in in the Shaolin fist category, second place in short weapon category, third place in long weapon category at Dengfeng Shaolin Martial Art Competition. In 1988 he was awarded second place in 56kg category at Beijing Wushu Boxing Competition and in 1989 was awarded first place in 56kg category at Beijing Wushu Boxing Competition.  Between 1999-2001 he was a professor at the Wushu, Boxing and Qi Gong at Pysical Education Club in Japan. In 2003 he became the Deputy Director of Shaolin Temple Wushu Training Centre International Office.

In 2004, training at Henan University of Chinese Medicine Oct 2004, he won the Gold Medal in the Short Weapon category and Silver Medal in Fist category at the first International Traditional Martial Art Festival.  In July 2005 he became the Principal of Henan Shaolin Wushu College and in August 2005 won first place in Shaolin Fist at National Wushu College Wushu Competition. In Oct 2006 he won the  Gold Medal in Fist Category, and Bronze Medal in Sword Category at the second International Tradtional Martial Art Festival and 3rd Feb 2007 was met by the President of Singapore while representing Shaolin Martial Arts in Singapore.

 

Yan Zhijun

Yan Zhijun was born in Dengfen, Henan Province in August 1967. He graduated from college and received a level 6 qualification in Chinese Martial Arts.  Ever since he was 6 years old, he was trained by the famous Shaolin Martial Artisit Liang Yiquan, and has now earned the honary name "one of the 18 Luohan of Shaolin".  He has held such positions as the Director of Wushu Training Centre International Deparment, Director of Foreign Affairs, and the Director of International Training Department.  His personal specialty in Shaolin Martial Arts include Shaolin Traditional Fist, Shaolin spears, and swords.

Yan Zhi Jun has participated in many martial competitions and has won both the all-round champion in the first Henan Province Country Sports competition and the first place in Shaolin Fist in the National country sports competition in 1988.  Since becoming a martial arts instructor, he has also trained many successful students, including Wang Shiying, Wang Mawan, Liu Guangda, Xu Dezheng, Ye Xinglie, Zhang Kunlun, Wang Deqing, Liu Genming, Cheng Hao, Du Hongyi, Liu Changfeng, Qiao Hongliang.  All students are well known Shaolin martial artists. Among them, Wang Shiying has won the world championship in Sanda, Wang Mawan has won the National Championship, Zhang Kunlin is studying PhD in Beijing University, and Ye Xinglie is one of the head Martial Arts instructors at Hunan University.

While Yan was teaching his Chinese students, he has also been teaching students from several other countries including Japan, Germany, USA, UK, Belgium, Italy, France, Korea, and Australia.  Yan Zhijun has also visited, taught and performed Shaolin Kung Fu all around the world, including Belgium, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain, Hungary and UK. Since 1988, he has been organising and directing martial arts performance at the Martial Training Centre for visitors from other parts of China and around the world. Some of the VIP foreign guests included the Minister Mentor of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, Korean Former President Kim Young-sam, Princess Sirindhorn of Thailand. And, Chinese Leaders include Li Changchun, Li Desheng, Li Ruihuan, Qian Qichen, Li Tieyin, and Qiao Shi. Yan has been arranging and directing Shaolin Kung Fu shows such as "Da Shan Men", "Shaolin Xiong Feng", "Mei Hua Zhuang", and "Shaolin Sheng Gong". 

 

Han Xinqiang

Hen Xinqiang (buddhist name, Shi De Qiang) was also born in Dengfeng, Henan Province on the 24th March 1972. He has received a Level 6 qualification in Chinese Martial Arts, and has been given the honorary name "the Young Master of Fist".  Han Xinqiang has loved Wushu ever since he was a child. While he was studying in primary school, for 2 years, he learnt Wushu from his uncle. In 1983, he gained entry to Deng Feng Physical Education School and learnt Shaolin Kung Fu from the famous Martial artist Liang Yiquan.  He then studied Shaolin Wushu under Master Suyun. He has participated in many competitions, and achieved excellent results.

Han Xinqiang personal specialties include: weapons and fist combat and Shaolin large sabre. In 1985, Han went to the Henan provincial competition for the first time and won the first place in Shaolin fist. In 1986 and 1987, he participated in the 6th and 7th Zhenzhou Sports Competition and won the first place in 2 men fighting set, stick, and sabre. He was also the champion in 60kg category in the China and Hong Kong competition.

Mentored by Liang Yiqian, Han started working at Shaolin Temple Wushu Training Centre. His job included both performing and teaching. He went to Belgium in 1990 with the Director of the Wushu Training Centre, and afterwards he was invited to perform and teach in a number of countries, including, USA, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.  He is currently the chief instructor at the Shaolin Temple Wushu Training Centre International Department.

 

Bu Fanbin

Originally from Jining, Shandong Province, Bu Fanbin started Wushu training when he was 6. In 2002 he came to train with his master at Shaolin Temple. He has represented Shaolin Wushu Training Centre and won several awards in Wushu routine competitions. He is now a professional instructor at Shaolin Wushu Training Centre and has been invited to preform and teach in Japan, Russia, Italy and Korea. Bu Fanbin's personal specialtities include: Shaolin Fist, Shaolin Stick.

 

Jing Weisheng

Born in 1984, Jing Weisheng was originally from a Wushu family in Jining, Shandong Province. He has been practicing Wushu with his family since he was a child. In 1996, he went to study in Wenshang Shaolin Wushu College.  In 2001, he traveled to Henan Shaolin Temple to learn martial arts. He has achieved excellent results in many traditional Shaolin competitions and has won the first place inboth  Sabre and Fist. He has passed Shaolin Instructor Qualifying Exams and received Level 1 Instructor Certificate. He is currently a professional instructor at Shaolin Wushu Training Centre and has been invited to teach and perform in Germany, Russia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.  Jing Weishengs personal specialties include: Shaolin traditional weapons and long sabre.
